Idril Info (the original Idril, not my rpg character!).

Idril (S.: "sparkle-brilliance") (FA)

Noldorin Elf, daughter of Turgon and Elenwë. She returned to Middle-earth with Turgon and dwelt with him in Nevrast and Gondolin. Idril was loved by Maeglin, her first cousin, but she disliked him. In 503 she married Tuor, this was the second wedding of the Eldar and the Edain. The next spring their son Eärendil was born.

Fearing the fall of Gondolin and foreseeing the treacher of Maeglin, Idril secretly built a tunning leading out of the city, and when Gondolin was invaded she escaped by that road with Tuor, Eärendil, and a small following. Idril and the survivors feld down Sirion to Nan Tathren and later to Arvernien. When Tuor grew old, he and Idril Sailed intto the West; it is not known if they were admitted to Aman. (Though in the entry about Tuor it says "their fate is unknown, but it is said that Tuor was admitted to Eldamar, the only mortal Man to be numbered among the Eldar.)

Idril was very beautiful and had the golden hair of the Vanyar. She was known as Celebrindal, Silverfoot. The Quenya form of her name was Itarillë or Itarildë.
